Isn’t it everyone’s?

Ever since I can remember, I have always loved listening to music.  I guess it had to have started in grade school – I used to use the tv and radio to force me to concentrate on my homework.  It sounds a bit backward, I know – but it really did work!

I also attribute my love of music to two years of flute lessons, a year of ballet, tap and jazz classes when I was in kindergarten and my dad listening to ‘oldies’ while cooking breakfast on the weekends.

Regardless of what caused this passion to form in my heart and brain, I have just always enjoyed listening to whatever was on a station that had decent reception.  Oddly enough, I never really collected tapes or listened to my walkman.  (Yes, I said it – I had tapes and a walkman.)  I do, however, have a pretty decent collection of CDs, and they aren’t all of any one particular genre, either.  Though, I will admit, I do not have a whole lot of hard rock.  And by that, I mean groups like Metallica, Pantera, anything that would have been seen on the Headbanger’s Ball back in the days when MTv actually played music videos!

It got to the point that back in July of 2001 I took the class at the Connecticut School of Broadcasting in Davie, Florida.  I loved it and was really (in my opinion and maybe one or two of the instructors’) quite good.  I could write spots pretty well, and deliver them clearly and with energy.  However, with digital radio taking over, and more and more stations going with skeleton crews or syndicated shows, there wasn’t much open when it came time for me to get my foot in the door.

I briefly had a spot with freakradio.net – which was really pretty cool, but short lived due to computer issues.  I think it has actually shut down since that time, which is sad because it had a pretty good group of people working on it.  I would *definitely* do that again if I could find a similar website.  (If you know of anything like that, I would be glad to check it out!)

In the meantime, I happened to be on twitter following BlueJeanBaby and I clicked on one of her links.  It lead me to Blip.fm which is FANTASTIC!  It may not make me an actual DJ, but it’s pretty close!  I have actually started to blip some songs on twitter, and I have even gotten some props for what I play!  It’s a neat little site and I plan to use it often.  If you happen to see DJDaria – that’s ME!  What’s cool is that I can blip anything from ABBA to Snoop Dog and everything around and in between – and if you don’t want to listen to it, you don’t have to!

Maybe it’s just me, but this is probably one of the cooler things I have come across on the Web since Twitter.  =)  Either that, or I am a complete Geek.  The Jury is still out….

PhotobucketBy now, I am sure you have heard of, if not joined, Darren Rowse’s new challenge.  Well, I am under the assumption that it is a ‘challege’ – but more of a personal one.  The point is to spend 31 days building a better blog.  Beginning on April 1st, Darren will be sending out hints and suggestions on what to do to make your blog better!

I know that he has done things like this in the past, but I was not into blogging then, so I am very excited about this opportunity!  If you are interested, you can sign up here.  I did this last night.  I got an email with a confirmation link, and that was it.

I hope that it helps me out, because as you might be able to tell – I need it!  I don’t plan on using this particular blog to make money or anything, but I would like to start a money-making blog somewhere in the near future!  This could be the stepping stone I need!  Wish me luck!

[iPhone] Bike week Daytona beach on 12seconds.tv

Last year at this time, I had been on Main Street in Daytona Beach at least three times.  On each occasion, I saw something new, interesting, sometimes exciting, and quite possibly, disturbing.  Since I got my computer working again, I am going to have to post some pictures from last year.  I think most of them are *safe*.

I plan on visiting Main Street tomorrow afternoon, but I have to bring my dogs to the vet first.  It just hit me that the vet trip is going to be one hell of an adventure.  The location is right around the Daytona Speedway, which isn’t always a bad thing.  However, being Bike Week 2009, there are events going on at the Speedway itself.  LOTS of events.  ::Sigh::  I really should have thought that through a bit better…

My goal last year was to find a woman, age 65+ wearing leather chaps.  Did I find it?  Ohhh yeah…  Not sure that was a good goal.

This year?  I’m thinking…  I can do something generic like, the craziest bike I see all day.  Or something more specific.  But what?  A paint job with at least three skulls on it, one of which must be wearing an eye patch on its left eye.  Any thoughts?  I guess I’ll play that one by ear.

Hobbies – World of Warcaft and what?? February 5, 2009

Welcome and thank you for taking a moment to check out my blog!!

In my free time, I would love to start blogging more often.  I need to start writing extra posts that I can publish on days where I just can’t get to the computer for more than a couple of minutes.  I think that would be the best way to begin.  Any thoughts?

Anyway, I also love to game. I am a huge fan of the World of Warcraft, where I have bunch of characters. I don’t play often enough to have a very high level character, but I’m happy with a level 62 Warlock!  I find it to be a great way to keep in touch with friends from around the country.  I guess I use it more as a chat room with fun stuff to do, than an actual game.

I also play on Xbox Live when I have some time – or when the fiance isn’t playing or watching the big TV. I love the arcade games, but I have always enjoyed playing the Halo series, Mechassault (old school XBox) and stuff like that. I am also a proud member of the GamerChix, which – last check – was over 8500 members strong!! As the creator, Trixie360 says, “That’s a lot of boobs!”

There are GameCubes and a Wii in the house – which are tons of fun if you are in the mood to bowl, race some friends in Mario Kart, or just be stupid and roam around places like you would in Sims type games.  Those are probably my favorite!

When I figure out how to do it, I will see if I can post pics of my characters and gamercard on a page dedicated to gaming.  In the meantime, I may just create the page and list some of the stuff I play and some of the gaming experiences I have had in the past.

Reading is another of my favorite things to do, however I don’t do it half as much as I would like. I just feel like there are too many other things I should be doing before I sit and read. It sounds odd, I know – but I just can’t justify it in my mind.  I will probably also create a page for books I am reading and have read in the past.  I’m sure I can figure out some sort of way to make it fun and creative..   I hope.

I am trying to get into running as well.  For Christmas, my fiance bought me the Nike+ ipod shoes and the sensor for my nano. It’s really a great little product!  I just don’t really know how to get myself motivated. I definitely need to get on the ball!  I have started with the ‘walk 5 minutes, run 1 minute, repeat’ type deal, but that gets so very boring!  Luckilly, I have a friend who is in a running group and they technically train for a marathon over 6 or 10 months or something.  I am waiting for more info on that! I think that running with a group would be a geat motivator for me – whenever that starts again!

So, that is what I do in my spare time as of right now.  At least, that is what I can think of right now.  I’m sure there will be more addded to the list in the future!
